Overview
Kayieye Primary School, Kenya
Kayieye Primary School is located in the Siaya District of Western Kenya close to our Moving Mountains Ulamba Children's Home. All of the children who we support at Ulamba now go to this school for their primary education; it is also one of the only schools in the Siaya district that caters for deaf children and children with hearing difficulties, thanks to our intervention.
Before Moving Mountains became involved at the school, children had many of their classes outside, under a tree and Kayieye was widely seen as a failing school.
Since 2005, we have been working with Kayieye to renovate several existing classrooms, construct two new classrooms for children with special needs, an early child development classroom, a water pump and borehole and a 2 x dormitories which provide boarding facilities for the children with special needs.
Most of the children with special needs live far from the school, making regular attendance very difficult so the dormitories provided ensure that these children can now attend school daily, in a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Support the further development of this primary school by donating to our educational programs in Kenya.

Future Aims
Our long-term plan is to provide a library facility and to supply teaching aids to the school, especially for the special needs classes. We also hope to add to the dormitories, providing more facilities for the children who stay there during the school terms.
As all the children from our Moving Mountains Ulamba Children's Home attend Kayieye for their primary education, it is in the interest of the charity to ensure that we maintain a close working relationship with the school, a relationship that is beneficial to the standard of education for our Ulamba children and all the kids who attend Kayieye and the development and continued improvements, which play a big role in Kayieye climbing the school league tables.
